Six hurt in one-vehicle accident

Six Barnett residents were injured in a one-vehicle wreck Saturday night in Miller County.

The patrol said Kathy M. Doyle, 54, Barnett, was driving west on Missouri 52, just west of Hackler when the wreck occurred at about 8 p.m.

The front-seat passenger, Craig A. Doyle, 54, Barnett, grasped the steering wheel of the vehicle from the driver, jerking it to the right. Kathy Doyle tried to regain control of the car, but overcorrected to the left, traveling across the center line, then overcorrected to the right. The vehicle ran off the road and overturned several times.

Passenger Jayden D. Turpin, 5, was seriously injured and taken to University Hospital in Columbia by helicopter.

Craig Doyle, the only person in the vehicle wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. Four other passengers, all Barnett residents, also were taken to Lake Regional by ambulance: Branden J. Decker, 7; Aleah M. Doyle, 7; Lloyd T. Turpin, 6, and Marissa R. Turpin, 9.

The patrol did not list Kathy Doyle as being injured, and said said she was driving with no driver's insurance.

In other patrol reports:

• Chamois resident Kristain D. Dodge, 32, sustained minor injuries in a one-vehicle wreck early Sunday morning in Osage County.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said she was eastbound on Missouri 100, about 2.1 miles west of Chamois at about 12:20 a.m. when she fell asleep. Her vehicle ran off the right side of the road, and she struck her knee on the dashboard.

Dodge, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to St. Mary's Health Center for treatment.

• Belle residents Charles S. Bond and Mary L. Bond, ages 37 and 56, had minor injuries in a one-vehicle wreck Saturday night in Gasconade County.

The patrol said it was unknown who was driving the vehicle, which was westbound on Korhman Road, about 1.2 miles east of Rt. P, when the wreck occurred about 8:20 p.m. The vehicle exited the left side of the road, collided with an embankment and overturned.

Neither Charles nor Mary bond was was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said. Both were taken to St. Mary's.
