Lincoln gets swept

TALEQUAH, Okla. - The Northeastern State RiverHawks finished a four-game sweep of the Lincoln Blue Tigers on Sunday, winning the final game 8-0.

Gatlin Wiggans had two of Lincoln's five hits in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association contest. The Blue Tigers' best chance to score came in the second inning when they loaded the bases with nobody out. But a strikeout and a double play ended the threat.

Nate Lueckenhoff took the loss, allowing six runs (all earned) and 10 hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out one. John Bisges gave up two earned runs on four hits and a walk in two innings of relief. He struck out two.

Lincoln (1-19, 0-16 MIAA), which has lost nine straight, is back in action in a four-game series with Central Missouri starting Friday afternoon at Lincoln Field. Northeastern State is now 13-13, 10-10.

Lincoln managed five hits and committed three errors as the Blue Tigers fell to Northeastern State 12-2 in a nine-inning contest shortened to eight by the run rule Saturday.

Zach Roberts, Ben Stewart, Josh Kennedy, Wiggans and Nick Lovell all had hits for the Blue Tigers.

Joe Jungmeyer (0-5) allowed six runs on six hits, while walking four and striking out four in six innings.

Zach York yielded two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk in one inning, while Josh Kennedy allowed four runs on four hits in 1/3 of an inning.

A number of big offensive plays combined with some errors by Lincoln allowed Northeastern State to sweep a doubleheader against the Blue Tigers on Friday.

The RiverHawks scored 11 first-inning runs en route to a 20-2 victory in the opener. Northeastern State then took the nightcap 3-1.

The Blue Tigers committed three errors in Game 1 and Northeastern State took advantage of 21 hits to win the seven-inning contest.

All 11 of Northeastern State's first-inning runs, along with two runs in the second, were unearned.

Lincoln tallied eight hits, two coming from Martin Gulley, in the opener.

Roberts, who had the Blue Tigers' only hit in Game 2, also had Lincoln's only run, which was unearned.
