Rock Bridge captures Class 5 girls basketball title

Rock Bridge 62, Lee's Summit North 45

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Sophie Cunningham scored 23 points and Cierra Porter added 16 points to lead Rock Bridge to a 62-45 win over Lee's Summit North for Rock Bridge's third consecutive Class 5 girls championship.

Chayla Cheadle's basket sparked a 10-0 Rock Bridge run to open the game Saturday, and the Bruins (27-3) pushed their lead to 32-14 at halftime. Rock Bridge shot 51.3 percent from the field (20 of 39) and converted 22 of 24 free throw attempts.

Imani Johnson led Lee's Summit North (24-6) with 18 points and scored all of the Broncos' five field goals in the first half. Erica Nelson added 14 for the Broncos, who shot 28.6 percent (14 of 49).

Lee's Summit North trailed 62-33 before scoring the final 12 points of the game.
