Your Opinion: Response to Smith on global warming

Dear Editor:

I was flattered by Tony Smith, the word smith (there's a pun for ya), when he included me in the Otto/Sampson/Brown clique March 2. You see I have never belonged in a clique before and I am not sure I would want to be part of any clique that would have me as a member.

Like Obama, Smith blames Beck/Limbaugh/and Fox for all the lack of solutions coming from the liberal left. Well, Smith and Obama do have one solution in common, taxes. You really think Mr. Smith the people running the factories and coal plants that have families want dirty air and water for their families, or just for yours?

The days of canaries in coal mines and child labor are long gone. It's as if Smith thinks those that disagree with him are for dirty water and air along with the end of the world. The very founder of Greenpeace, co-founder Patrick Moore, testified in Congress about global warming.

"There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth's atmosphere over the past 100 years," said Moore, who was testifying before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee's Subcommittee on Oversight.

Don't know about the other members of my "clique" but I don't depend on talking points to make my opinion for me nor do I blame other people. The only serious discussion on this subject must agree with Smith and his group or it's beneath them to consider. After all, like the current administration, they know what's best for us don't they?

I am just a practicing pedestrian that understands it gets cold in the winter and hot in the summer. History also tells me (yes I read books) that the earth has gone through several climate changes without being taxed because of them. Now I must go off to my clique meeting.
