StartUp Jefferson City plans to host its annual "Pitch It & Win It" contest on Oct. 25. To prepare entrepreneurs interested in pitching their business plan, StartUp JC will host an Aug. 16 "Practice Pitch" event.
"At this time, StartUp JC members are working to promote the opportunity and identify potential participants for the October pitch contest," Shaun Sappenfield of the Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce said.
Sappenfield said the event is designed to identify new entrepreneurs and/or potential business startups in the area.
The August session will allow each participant five minutes to present their business idea and 10 minutes to answer questions and receive feedback from a panel made up of business professionals.
The "Practice Pitch" event will be from 9-11 a.m. at the Chamber of Commerce building. Although this opportunity allows for a practice run, participation at the August session is not required for those interested in registering for the October event. Participants in October will have a chance to win a portion of $5,000 in prize money.
