Alewine honored

For academics

Erin Alewine was one of three Central Missouri track and field athletes named to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America teams, announced Wednesday.

Alewine (Jefferson City High School) was selected to the Academic All-America First Team for the second year in after claiming her second national championship in the indoor pentathlon.

Alewine was also named the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Regional Field Athlete of the Year for the second straight year and claimed All-America honors in the outdoor heptathlon.

The Dr. Peggy Martin Award winner and Ken B. Jones Award finalist graduated in May with a 3.58 GPA while majoring dietetics.
