Post 5 opens season with wins

Post 5 scored 22 runs and tallied 22 hits in 12 innings to open the season with a pair of wins Saturday.

Brenden Ogletree went 2-for-4 with four RBI and a home run to lead Post 5 to an 8-2 win against Independence Hi-Boy in the opener.

Then in the nightcap, Dylan Brauner and Hayden Strobel drove in three runs apiece to help the local club capture a 14-6 victory against Lee's Summit.

Austin Sachse drove in two runs and Cole Distler was 1-for-4 with an RBI to help lead Post 5 (2-0) in the first game.

Trevor Schnieders added an RBI, while Logan Bax, Rylie Klosterman, Dylan Brauner and Cory Beard all chipped in with hits.

Cody Stegemann (1-0) picked up the win in the opener, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits, while striking out three and walking two in four innings of work.

Todd Buschjost threw three scoreless innings, surrendering two hits and striking out two.

In the nightcap, Brauner had three hits and Strobel added two to lead Post 5 at the plate. Schnieders was 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Distler was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Bax was 2-for-2, A.J. Elsworth was 1-for-1 with an RBI, and Stegemann chipped in with a hit to help lead Post 5, which committed five errors in Game 2.

Beard (1-0) was the winning pitcher after allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits while striking out three and walking six in four innings of work.

Elsworth threw the fifth inning, surrendering three runs (one earned) on three hits and one walk.
