JOPLIN - The Jefferson City Post 5 Little League All-Star team won the 10-and-under Little League state tournament on Monday.
Post 5 beat the Webb City All Stars 2-1 behind strong pitching performances from Tyler Renn and Brody Stockman.
Jefferson City scored both runs in the first inning.
Post 5 went 7-0 in postseason play, outscoring opponents 84-23. Renn threw two perfect games. It is the team's second state title in four years.
Team members include: Renn Stockman, Matt Stieferman, Brayden Whittle, Drew Sommerer, Joshua Backes, Korbin Wunderlich, Jonathan Lieb, Cole Peters, Zach Herigon, Javan Steinhardt and Alexander Procter. Rance Renn, Aaron Whittle, Tracy Peters, Micah Whittle and Brent Streeter coached the team.
The team will be recognized in the State Capitol on the floor of the House of Representatives.
