Consistent Kesterson ties for second

SPRINGFIELD - It was a consistent three days for Walker Kesterson.

Kesterson, who will be a junior this fall at Southern Boone High School, finished in a tie for second in The Bass Pro Shops/Payne Stewart Junior Challenge that concluded Thursday at Rivercut Golf Course.

Kesterson finished with a four-under 212, carding rounds of 71-70-71.

Winston Margaritis of Collierville, Tenn., won the event at 67-69-71-207. Pierce Aichinger of Cherry Hills, Colo., tied with Kesterson with rounds of 71-69-72.

Kory Franks, who will enter his senior year this fall at Blair Oaks High School, finished in a tie for 10th at 66-76-77-219.

A total of 84 players took part in the tournament, conducted by the American Junior Golf Association.

On the girls side, Taylor Hayes of Lake Ozark finished in a tie for 13th at 73-73-83-229.

Madeline Chou of Santa Ana, Calif., won the girls title at 75-66-75-216.

A total of 21 girls took part in the tournament.
