Meth charges filed after Osage County arrests

Two Columbia residents were charged Tuesday in Osage County for allegedly possessing illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Osage County Sheriff Michael Dixon reported that deputies responded around 1 a.m. to a call about suspicious activity in the area of US 50 and County Road 604 near Linn. Several people, including a child, were on the reporting party's front porch carrying a gas can and banging on the home's doors and windows, according to the call.

During their investigation, deputies discovered what they believed to be methamphetamine, meth paraphernalia, marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia. They arrested Eric Shreve, 25, and Laci Shreve, 21, both of Columbia.

Both suspects were charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. The sheriff reports Eric Shreve is also on probation for distributing narcotics in Johnson County, Kansas.

Judge Robert D. Schollmeyer set the suspects' bond at $15,000 apiece. Both suspects were being held as of Tuesday evening at the Osage County Jail.
