BizBeat: Short move for furniture store quadruples space

B&B Quality Furniture is settling in nicely to its new digs at 708 Jefferson St., just a half block up the street from its old Jefferson City location at 626 Jefferson St.

Why the short move? Co-owner Barbara Rector said she and her husband were renting their old building, but have owned the building at 708 Jefferson St. for the past 25 years. When Noah's Ark Learning Center shut down there, they had the opportunity to move into the building that they own.

That's allowed them to increase inventory, as their square footage jumped from 1,500 to 6,000.

The store sells new, name-brand mattresses, as well as quality wood furniture from estate sales.

The store's operating hours are the same, but it is now also open on Mondays, Rector said.
