Several area players are among the 183 entered to play in the Missouri Junior Amateur Golf Championship scheduled to begin today at Paradise Point Golf Complex in Smithville.
Six of the area golfers are entered in the boys age 14-18 event - Brett Trowbridge, Gabe Trowbridge, Andrew Hansen, Tanner Elder and Kory Franks of Jefferson City, and Walker Kesterson of Hartsburg.
Lane Plunkett of Eugene is entered in the boys age 12-13 tournament.
Four area girls are in the age 14-18 tournament - Brooke Thompson and Jenna Kosmatka of Jefferson City, Lauren Plunkett of Eugene and Mattison Ditter of Ashland.
The 36-hole event is slated to conclude Tuesday.
