JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Missouri Senate has confirmed a former aide to Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon and a former state lawmaker to positions on government commissions.
Nixon nominated Daniel Hall, his former legislative affairs director, to a position on the Public Service Commission, which regulates utility companies and rates.
The Republican-controlled Senate also confirmed former Rep. Sara Lampe, a Democrat from Springfield, to a post on the Missouri Human Rights Commission. The commission investigates complaints of discrimination in employment, housing and public places.
Senators were reluctant to confirm Lampe until Nixon put forward additional Republicans to also serve on the commission but moved forward with the confirmation after receiving assurances more Republicans would be nominated.
Hall and Lampe were already serving in their positions but needed confirmation to remain on the job.
