Helias girls hit late free throws to beat Fulton

FULTON - The Helias Lady Crusaders hit 7-of-9 free throws down the stretch to ice a 54-49 win against the Fulton Lady Hornets on Thursday night.

Helias was up 15-8 after one quarter, but saw that dip to 24-21 by halftime. Each team scored 14 points in the third period, and the Lady Crusaders had a 16-14 edge in the fourth.

Mai Nienhueser dropped in 20 points to pace the Lady Crusaders, while Kelsi Bernskoetter and Meghan Nappier scored 10 apiece.

Helias (10-4) will play again Monday at Jefferson City.

In Thursday's JV game, the Lady Crusaders moved to 11-0 with a 40-12 victory. Morgan Wieberg led Helias with seven points.
