Columbia armed robbery suspects caught in JC

Jefferson City police assisted Columbia police in finding suspects in an armed robbery that occurred there earlier this week.

According to authorities, at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, detectives arrested Jamaar L. Curtis, 31, from Hazelwood, and Antonio L. Banks, 22, Jefferson City, for first-degree robbery, felonious restraint and armed criminal action.

The robbery occurred Monday when Curtis and Banks entered the U.S. Cellular store at Grindstone Parkway in Columbia. Curtis pointed a handgun at the male victim and ordered the victim to go from the lobby area of the store to the back room. Curtis and Banks stole cellphones and an undisclosed amount of money from the business along with the victim's cellphone, wallet and cash.

Curtis attempted to sell twenty of the stolen U.S. Cellular phones to a business in Jefferson City on Tuesday. Curtis and Banks went back to the Jefferson City business on Wednesday to collect money from the stolen cellphones when they were both taken into custody. All of the phones Curtis tried to sell were verified stolen from U.S. Cellular through an inventory list.
