Jefferson City police are investigating the discovery of possible human remains found Tuesday.
Officers responded shortly before 5 p.m. to a call from a pedestrian who discovered what appeared to be a human body near a line of trees in the 200 block of Schumate Chapel Road.
Police initially didn't have enough information to determine the age or sex of the remains. Because of difficulties processing the area, detectives and evidence technicians secured the scene for further investigation today.
