Three weeks from now, the Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan expects to open a new health clinic - in the Truman State Office Building.
"Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan has contracted with Cerner Corporation to operate the Strive for Wellness Health Center," Executive Director Judith Muck said in an e-mail, "as a convenient care clinic pilot for the treatment of common illnesses and provision of basic preventive care."
Muck said the new health center is scheduled to open March 17.
The Office of Administration handled the construction contract.
River City Construction won that $184,880 contract last fall, and did the renovation work between October 2013 and January.
Muck said the project cost a total of $199,743, after including the clinic and medical furniture.
She said the pilot health center will serve state employees who are enrolled in MCHCP.
"The pilot's expected cumulative, five-year return on investment is expected to be about $5 million," Muck said.
If it's successful, she added, the health care plan might "expand the health center to additional locations."
