A Jefferson City man was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Jeremy Humphrey, 27, was charged for an incident that occurred in February 2013.
Court documents show Humphrey was driving erratically at a high rate of speed in Jefferson City and was stopped by police officers. Officers detected marijuana odor coming from his car, and they said he appeared nervous. A search of the vehicle resulted in recovery of a loaded Taurus handgun.
Marijuana residue was observed in the car's console. An attempt had been made to scratch the serial number off the gun.
Humphrey is a multiple conviction felon and also has a number of misdemeanor convictions and numerous arrests, most associated with the use of controlled substances.
