The Maries County sheriff's office is investigating the suspicious death of 24-year-old Nichole Bailey, who died Monday morning.
According to a post on the sheriff's office Facebook page, Bailey died after being airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia. The post states the cause of death was undetermined and an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday morning in Boone County. The post notes "investigators have interviewed several witnesses who provided information on Bailey's whereabouts and activities" for the 48 hours before Bailey's death.
The Boone County medical examiner did not return calls for comment left Tuesday. No one from the Maries County Sheriff's Office with authorization to speak about the case was available Tuesday.
