Fire district gets two new pumpers

The Cole County Fire Protection District recently purchased two new pumper trucks as part of an ongoing effort to upgrade equipment.

The trucks were purchased from Schuhmacher Fire Equipment out of Washington, Mo., at a cost of $396,000.

The trucks have 1,000 gallon poly tanks and will replace two pumpers at the Henley and Mary's Home stations.

Fire district officials said funds for equipment upgrades come from the money generated from taxes paid by patrons of the district for fire protection.

Another tanker truck has been ordered and is to be delivered in July. The goal is to replace equipment that is 20 years or older with newer, more modern apparatus.
