Five players scored eight points or more for Union (Okla.) and the Redskins rolled to a 73-43 win against Western (Ky.) on Saturday in the first round of the Joe Machens Great 8 Classic at Fleming Fieldhouse in Jefferson City.
Adrian Rodriguez scored 15 points - 11 in the first quarter - to lead Union, which was 27-of-46 (59 percent) from the field and 8-of-13 (62 percent) from 3-point range.
Robert Ellis finished with 12 points, while Nile Felton and Ethan Chargois each added nine. Ryan Kinnear chipped in with eight in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring for the Redskins, who claimed a 29-21 rebounding advantage.
Terrell Howard poured in a game-high 18 points and Joshua Shannon finished with 10 to lead the attack for the Western.
Union led 13-9 after the first quarter before outscoring Western 21-4 in the second to take a 34-13 lead at the break.
