Fatima girls hold Eugene scoreless in second quarter of win

EUGENE - The Fatima girls basketball team remained undefeated after jumping out to a commanding lead in the first quarter en route to a 70-44 win against the Eugene Lady Eagles on Saturday.

The Lady Comets held an opponent scoreless in a quarter for the second time in a week, taking a 21-0 lead after the first quarter. Eugene responded by outscoring Fatima 20-14 in the second quarter, but the Lady Comets still took a 15-point edge into the break.

Fatima led 54-30 after the third quarter and the Lady Comets didn't look back from there.

Morgan Brandt scored 26 points and Sammey Bunch added 14 to lead Fatima, which improved to 7-0 on the season.

The Lady Comets return to action at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the first round of the State Farms Holiday Hoops Invitational against St. Joseph Benton at Rackers Fieldhouse.
