Holiday HOPE needs volunteers, donations

The HOPE for Christmas campaign is in need of volunteers and financial donations to help ensure needy families receive gifts for their holiday festivities.

As of Thursday, the campaign has 12 families still in need of adoption. The families up for adoption usually do not qualify for other Christmas programs. Many have suffered from some tragic situation in the past six months, such as the loss of a loved one or a diagnosis of a terminal illness. They are referred by other agencies, such as hospitals and clinics.

For those who cannot afford to adopt a family, financial donations are also accepted. There is also a need for volunteers to deliver and wrap gifts, among other things.

Financial donations are used to purchase items for families that have not been adopted. Any donations via credit, debit card, check or cash will be matched twice, meaning a $25 donation will immediately becomes $50 and then becomes $100 when volunteers go to purchase items for the family.

More information can be found online at www.hopeforchristmasjcmo.org or facebook.com/hopeforchristmasjeffcitymo. For more information, residents can email [email protected] or call 573-353-4720.

Financial donations can be made on the website or by mailing the check to Hope for Christmas, P.O. Box 105276, Jefferson City, MO 65110. Receipts are available for donations.
