Boys basketball: Eugene downs Blair Oaks

At Eugene Tournament

EUGENE - Five Eugene players scored in double figures Thursday as the Eagles defeated the Blair Oaks Falcons 78-59 in the semifinals of the Eugene Tournament.

Travis Kempker led the way with 16 points for the Eagles. Korey Burrow added 15, while Chase Dickerson chipped in with 14. Tyler Kempker and Travis Rush each had 10.

The game was tied at 12 after one quarter before Eugene took a 34-28 advantage into halftime. The Eagles outscored the Falcons 24-11 in the third quarter and led 58-39 heading into the final period.

Owen Luebbering totaled a game-high 18 points for Blair Oaks (1-1). Cody Alexander added 15 for the Falcons, who will face School of the Osage in the third-place game at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Eugene will take on the Camdenton junior varsity, a 77-72 winner against Osage in its semifinal Thursday, in the title game at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Blair Oaks JV rolled to a 70-47 win Thursday against the host school in the Eugene Tournament.

Jason Rackers led a balanced effort for the Falcons with 19 points. Tim Fick added 16 and Garrett Kliethermes chipped in with 10.

The Falcons are now 2-0 on the season.
