The Jefferson City Lady Jays volleyball team opened the season with a 25-13, 25-11 loss to St. Joseph's Academy on Saturday.

Mary Wehmeyer had six kills, while Chelsey Klosterman finished with nine digs to lead the Lady Jays (0-1).

In the junior varsity game, Jefferson City dropped a 25-23, 25-15 decision.

Arielle Guitard had 11 service points, while Tatum Gaines tallied four kills and Olivia Hard added two blocks to help pace the Lady Jays.

Jefferson City returns to action Monday when the Lady Jays host Sedalia Smith-Cotton at 5 p.m.
