Boy, 2, killed in crash that injured six others

A 2-year-old boy was killed and six other passengers were injured in a Saturday evening wreck in Camden County when the driver lost control of a pickup truck.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said Kaygyn J. Dority, 2, of Roach, died. Roach residents injured in the wreck were Stormy L. Skinner, 3; Madison N. Vaughn, 6; and Michael B. Vaughn, 7. Madison Vaughn was life-flighted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, while Skinner and Michael Vaughn had minor injuries.

Three Macks Creek residents also were injured: Micah Schmidt, 16; Blaine R. Skinner, 32; and Shelby R. Willis, age unknown. Skinner had moderate injuries, while Schmidt and Willis had minor injuries.

The driver, Blair N. Dority, 30, Roach, was not listed as being injured. Neither she nor any of the passengers of the 2006 Ford pickup were wearing seat belts.

The wreck occurred about 5:15 p.m. on West Branch Road at Camden/Hickory county line. Dority was driving westbound when she lost control of the vehicle, which went off the left side of the road, struck and tree and overturned.
