Shock detention for shooting

A Jefferson City man will serve a 120-day shock detention sentence for pleading guilty to a charge in connection with a shooting in April.

Dennis Summers, 24, pleaded guilty to a charge of second-degree assault. Charges of discharging a firearm into an inhabitable house and armed criminal action were dismissed.

Officers were called to the 400 block of East Dunklin Street on for a call of multiple shots fired into a residence. A 33-year-old male victim was shot one time through his torso.

The resident of the home the shooting took place at admitted to selling drugs, and it was later learned the shooting occurred because it was believed the buyers hadn't gotten the amount of drugs they thought they had paid for.
