Missouri homes selling prices rise

The number of Missouri homes sold and property selling prices rose in June, according to sales data from Missouri Realtors.

In June, nearly 6,800 residential properties were sold in Missouri, a 3.5 percent increase from June 2013. The total sales volume for the state was $1.3 billion, a 10 percent gain over the previous June.

The average residential property selling price was $191,059, an increase of 12 percent over the previous year. The median residential property selling price rose 6 percent, coming in at $147,950. Additionally, the average number of days for a home to be on the market was 122 days, three days less than June 2013.

With solid home sales and healthy price appreciation, the current state of Missouri real estate shows strong trends with favorable conditions for both buyers and sellers, Realtor officials said.

The second quarter reflected a strong increase over the same period of 2013, with total sales increasing by 6 percent to more than $3.3 billion. While the numbers of homes sold during this quarter remained flat at 19,312, the number of days on market reduced by four days. During the quarter, the average and median prices were up 7 percent and 4 percent, respectively.

Homes sold in June 2014 increased 3.5 percent compared to 2013 and they sold at a faster rate.
