Four errors cost Jefferson City in 12-6 loss

COLUMBIA - Jefferson City was outhit 12-8 and the Jays committed four errors as Hickman came away with a 12-6 win on Monday.

Jackson Walker had four hits and Brenden Ogletree drove in two runs to lead Jefferson City at the plate.

Blaine Meyer threw 32/3 innings and Alex Johnson pitched the final 21/3 innings for the Jays.

Jefferson City (11-5) will host Rolla at 4:30 Wednesday.

The Jays' freshman and sophomore teams both earned wins against Lebanon on Monday.

The Jays sophomore team edged the Yellow Jackets 5-2 in the opener, before the freshman team rolled to a 12-0 victory.

Taylor Hartman threw 62/3 innings to pick up the win for Jefferson City in the opener.

Grant Wood had two hits and drove in three runs, while Hartman added three hits and Gavin Strobel chipped in with two to help lead the Jays at the plate.

Jefferson City had 20 hits in the freshman game.

Hayden Hirschvogel, Cole Ahrens, Allan Roettgen, Jacob Weirich, Brandon Williams, Strobel and Wood all had multiple hits for the Jays. Roettgen led the offensive attack with a home run.

Four pitchers combined to earn the win for Jefferson City.

The Jays, who have a combined record of 18-2, will play at Battle on Wednesday.
