Lincoln drops pair in baseball to Washburn

TOPEKA, Kan. - Lincoln University lost a pair of Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association games against Washburn on Saturday.

In the opener, the Blue Tigers managed just two hits and committed six errors as the Ichabods ran away with a 9-0 win. Washburn completed the four-game sweep with a 7-2 win in Game 2.

Gatlin Wiggans and Kaleb Davis were both 2-for-5 on the day, while Josh Kennedy hit a two-run home run in the nightcap to help lead Lincoln, which has lost 26 straight.

In two games, the Blue Tigers (1-36, 0-32 MIAA) were outhit 21-7 by the Ichabods (22-19, 21-15 MIAA).

Ian Fuemmeler allowed eight runs (five earned) on six hits and five walks in 4 1/3 innings in Game 1. Gus Goodnight threw the final 1 2/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits and two walks.

Wiggans started Game 2 for the Blue Tigers, allowing six runs on nine hits, while striking out one and walking one in 2 2/3 innings.

Dalton Goings pitched four scoreless innings, allowing just three hits.

Lincoln will host Truman State for a doubleheader, starting at 2 p.m. Monday.
