LU women ranked 16th in outdoor track

The Lincoln Blue Tiger women's track and field team is ranked No. 16 in the nation in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's NCAA Division II poll released Tuesday.

The rankings are a mathematical formula based on national decending order and data taken from previous seasons,

Central Missouri is ranked eighth to top the six Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association teams in the poll. Other MIAA schools ranked include Central Oklahoma (No. 18), Missouri Southern (No. 23), Fort Hays State (No. 24) and Pittsburg State (No. 25).

Johnson C. Smith is ranked first, with Saint Augustines, Angelo State, Chico State and Academy of Art rounding out the top five.

Lincoln will run in a pair of meets this weekend. Some Blue Tigers will be at the Big Blue Classic, hosted by Eastern Illinois University, on Friday and Saturday in Charleston, Ill. Others will be at the Southwest Baptist University Classic on Saturday in Bolivar.
