Lisa Rodenbaugh has “revolutionized the nursing scheduler position,” said Patrick Stevenson, who nominated her for the State Employee of the Month.
Rodenbaugh is the nursing scheduler at the Missouri Veterans Home.
“Lisa exceeds expectations by working with a great deal of autonomy requiring very little oversight,” Stevenson said. “She is an outstanding employee exhibiting tremendous initiative.”
As the scheduler, Rodenbaugh balances staff ratios with little liability.
She has good customer service skills and is fun and creative, Stevenson said.
In addition to the demands of her own job, Rodenbaugh took time to train someone in a position she once held, Stevenson said.
What Lisa does best is “make a difference that positively and directly impacts this organization’s future success,” Stevenson said.
“The key to having great staff is developing great staff, which all starts from the moment they drop off their applications ... and lasts throughout their general orientation/probationary period,” he said.
Rodenbaugh also served as the project manager for the agency’s recent employee retention program.
The positive impact is shown in the turnover rate among nursing assistants reduced to 16 percent over the past six months, compared with the 34 percent during the same time frame in 2012.
The State Employee of the Month is selected by the State Employee of the Month Selection Committee from among nominations submitted by the 16 state departments and some elected offices. The six committee members also are members of the State Training Advisory Council.
