Helias wins pair of softball contests

LIBERTY, Mo. - Helias went 2-1 in the Liberty Tournament on Friday.

The Lady Crusaders opened with an 8-5 victory against Grain Valley.

Lindsey Steinbeck allowed four runs on four hits in four innings. She struck out three and walked one.

Paige Bange pitched the final three innings allowing one run on two hits.

Bange was the star on offense as she finished with three hits, three runs and four RBI, including a two-run homer. Julie Harris also had three hits.

Grace Dittmer added two hits, including a home run, while Kaysie Scheuler went 2-for-4.

Helias lost the second game 5-3 to Fort Osage.

Steinbeck allowed four earned runs in six innings on six hits and three walks. Allie Ashcraft pitched a perfect inning of relief. Lauren Morrow and Peyton Hall had two hits each. Hall added a home run.

Helias defeated Liberty North 6-5 in the final game of the day thanks to a walk-off, two-run home run by Bange. She also got the win in relief allowing four runs on four hits in three innings. Ashcraft got the start allowing one run on two hits and two walks.

Morrow had a grand slam for Helias and Harris added two hits.

Helias (5-10) finishes up the tournament with a pair of games today.
