Hearing on expressway project slated

The Missouri Department of Transportation is holding a public hearing from 4-6 p.m. Thursday in Pleus Hall at Immaculate Conception Church to discuss improvements to the Whitton Expressway.

Proposed improvements include a new interchange at U.S. 50 and Lafayette Street and adding a lane in each direction from Monroe Street to Lafayette Street and from Lafayette to Clark Avenue. Five bridges along the corridor will be replaced and one rehabilitated. The project is planned for 2014.

No formal presentation will be made, and the public may attend the hearing at any time between 4-6 p.m.

Various project displays will be available and questions are encouraged.
