One in custody after weekend search in Cole Co.

On Monday at approximately 3:20 pm, Cole County Deputies and the Missouri Highway Patrol responded to the area Missouri 179 and Hilsenbeck Road for a single vehicle accident.
Region West Fire Protection District personnel, who were also dispatched to the accident, stated the subject from the accident ran into the woods upon their arrival. The vehicle license was wanted in reference to a leaving the scene accident in Cooper County.
The driver was identified as Jasper Richmond, 20, who had several warrants and was later found to have relatives who lived in Cole County.
Sheriff's deputies and highway patrol units arrived on the scene started to set up a perimeter.
The Cole County Mobile Emergency Operation Center (MEOC) was also dispatched to the scene to assist in command and control of the search. The search for Richmond included deputies and K9 unit as well as patrol troopers their K9 unit and the highway patrol helicopter.
At approximately 6:50p.m., the search was terminated, but several Cole County units stayed in the area
At approximately 4 a.m. Tuesday morning, authorities received a call of a subject trying to wave down people in this area.
Deputies responded and discovered that a black Grand Am picked up Richmond and was driving towards Jefferson City.
Sheriff’s deputies and officers with the Jefferson City police department searched the area and a vehicle matching the description was stopped on Edgewood Drive and Froghollow Road where Richmond was taken into custody without any further incident.
Richmond was transported to the Cole County Jail where he was booked and processed for two, no bond, felony warrants out of Camden County: distribution of a controlled substance, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Richmond is also pending charges from the patrol from this incident for leaving the scene of an accident.
