Katy Trail fall tram tours set for Oct. 16

Missouri State Parks and Boone Electric Cooperative will celebrate Missouri Day on Oct. 16 by hosting the fourth annual Katy Trail Fall Colors Tram Tours.

The two-hour round-trip tours will take visitors in open tram cars between Rocheport and McBaine, a nine-mile portion of the Katy Trail known for its “striking views of the Missouri River and adjacent river bluffs,” a news release said.

Interpretive guides will explain the trail’s natural and historic

features.

The tours are free and open to the public, with suggested donations of $5 for adults and $3 for children aged 12 and under.

Tours will be offered at 8:30 and 11 a.m., and at 1:30 and 4 p.m.

Seats can be reserved in advance, by calling the Katy Trail State Park office in Columbia, 573-449-7422, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The deadline for reservations is Oct. 11.

A limited number of standing room only spaces will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so advanced registration is recommended.

Oct. 17 has been scheduled as the rain date.

“Missouri Day” was designated in 1915 as the third Wednesday of October each year, to honor the state and celebrate the achievements of all Missourians.
