Lincoln men roll to victory against McKendree

The Lincoln men's basketball team placed seven players in double figures to claim a 105-85 win against McKendree on Wednesday night at Jason Gym.

Clay Crouch and Mike Smith each scored 16 points and Aaron Spudich recorded his second double-double of the year as Lincoln (1-4) ended a three-game homestand with its first victory of the season.

The Blue Tigers took a 22-point lead with just less than 11 minutes to play, but the Bearcats (2-1) were able to pull within 13 with 2:12 left in regulation. Mario Bass answered with a three-pointer to spark a 7-0 Lincoln run and the Blue Tigers didn't look back from there.

Lincoln sank 10 treys in the game while holding the Bearcats to just two 3-pointers in 14 attempts. The Blue Tigers were also 23-of-36 from the field in the second half to help secure the victory.

Spudich scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Joshua Buie contributed 14 points. Charles Cole added 11 points, while Blake Derickson and Jeremy Jackson each added 10 points to help lead the offensive attack.

Lincoln claimed a 42-39 rebounding advantage and combined to block eight shots - five coming from James Edmond.

The Blue Tigers return to action against McKendree at 3 p.m. Saturday in Lebanon, Ill.
