JC man busted for sex crimes

A 31 year old Jefferson City man was arrested on suspicion of promoting child pornography.

Christopher Blickenstaff of 2414 Meadowlark Lane, was taken into custody, Friday.

This arrest is the result of a joint investigation involving the Boone County Sheriff's Department, Jefferson City Police Department, and the Clinton Missouri Police Department.

The investigation began in mid-August when an investigator for the Boone County Sheriff's Department Cyber Crimes Task Force downloaded child pornography from a home computer network believed to be in the Mid-Missouri area. This transmission was traced to a specific residence in Jefferson City. In September an investigator with the Clinton Police Department is also alleged to have downloaded child pornography from this same computer network.

On Friday, authorities served a court ordered search warrant at Blickenstaff's residence and as a result of that search a computer was seized.

Blickenstaff was arrested on suspicion of promoting child pornography in the first degree involving minors alleged to be under the age of 14. As of Friday afternoon he was in the Cole County Jail pending the filing of formal charges by the Cole County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
