PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - The Lincoln Blue Tigers will take a 13-shot lead into today's final round in the men's NCAA Division II portion of the PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship.
Lincoln has a two-day total of 596 with 18 holes remaining today. Texas A&M Internatonal trails at 609, while Virginia State is third in the eight-team field at 619.
Lincoln was led in Saturday's second round by junior Nick Goeke, who shot a 72.
"I was able to hold it together all day and made a few birdies on the back nine to get back to even par," Goeke said. "The wind was really picking up, especially on the back nine, so it felt good to help the team out with a good score. It was important for us to keep the lead going into tomorrow."
Goeke has a two-day total of 148. Steven Mallow leads Lincoln at 146 (71-75). Austin Wheeler is at 150 (72-78), while Eric Kosmatka has a 156 (76-80) and Kenny Conrad has a 157 (81-76).
On the women's side, Lincoln improved by 17 shots as a team Saturday and moved to sixth place at 671.
Blue Tiger golfers include Kaitlyn Schwartze (82-78-160), Payton Schooler (86-77-163), Sophie Pardalos (85-82-167) and Kara Harwood (91-90-181).
Bethune-Cookman leads the women's division at 592.
