Jays top Kewpies, advance to district final

Playing without their No. 1 Sam Johnson due to illness, Jefferson City was in need of someone to step up.

With everyone moving up a spot in the lineup, the Jays did just that.

David Clausen (7-6, 6-1), Spencer Bone (6-3, 6-3) and Isaac Roling (6-3, 6-1) won their singles matches, while David Steinmeyer (3-6, 6-7), Rex Michitsch (5-7, 4-6) and Dalton Doyle (1-6, 3-6) dropped theirs.

It came down to doubles, where the teams of Steinmeyer and Roling (6-2, 6-3) and Bone and Doyle (6-3, 6-3) won their matches to clinch the victory. Clausen and Michitsch dropped a 6-2, 4-6, 2-6 decision.
