Job Fair 2013 to highlight employment opportunities in Mid-Missouri

News Tribune, Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce, Missouri Career Center welcome exhibitors and job seekers

Top employers come together in one location ready to fill their current openings and you could be the applicant they're looking for. The job market is tough, but the upcoming Job Fair in Jefferson City is here to help both the seeker and the recruiter.

The Job Fair is set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 4, in the JC Penney wing of Capital Mall.

Those looking for a job should come prepared.

These simple steps can help you be better prepared to meet with potential employers:

• Make a good first impression: The first impression you make on a potential employer is the most important one. The first judgment an interviewer makes is going to be based on how you look and what you are wearing. That's why it's always important to dress professionally for a job interview, even if the work environment is casual.

What's the appropriate dress code for an interview? You'll want that first impression to be not just a good one, but a great one. The candidate dressed in a suit and tie is going to make a much better impression than the candidate dressed in scruffy jeans and a t-shirt.

• Bring several copies of your resume.

• Be prepared to answer common interviewing questions.

• Make a list of meaningful questions that you may have for the employers.

• Introduce yourself: shake hands firmly, smile and speak with confidence.

What kind of jobs will be offered during the Job Fair on Thursday? Employers will be interviewing, screening or setting up more detailed interviews in Jefferson City for these jobs:

Corrections Officers, Cook, Cook I, Cook II, Cook III, Probation & Parole Officers, Case Managers, Sales Reps, Homemaker/Personal Care Aides & Attendants, RN, LPN, CMT, CNA, CMA, Nurse Aides, Care Givers, Dining Service Associates, Production Positions, Managers In Training, Sales Associates, Management, School Bus Drivers, Therapists, Mental Health Specialists, Maintenance Tech, Community Support Specialist, Receptionist, Warehouse Workers, Administration, Clerical, Construction, Electricians, Engineers, General Labor, Light Industrial, Financial, Information Systems, Occupational Therapist.

Attendees will not only learn about current employment opportunities available in the Jefferson City area, but also see firsthand the diversity of businesses and industries which exist in central Missouri.
