MoDOT working to correct signal problem on Route B bridge project

MoDOT officials are working to correct a problem with a traffic light sensor that caused traffic to back up Wednesday morning on Route B in Cole County where MoDOT is working to rehabilitate the Osage River Bridge.

MoDOT officials said at some point last night a sensor in the temporary stoplights malfunctioned, causing delays during Wednesday morning's commute.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this unforeseen problem caused travelers," said Central District Engineer David Silvester. "We are working to have the problem fixed and construction crews will monitor the light over the next week, especially during morning and evening rush hours.

Silvester said if there are signs that traffic is backing up, crews will begin flagging traffic through the work area.

The bridge work will close one lane of the bridge, north of St. Thomas, until early July.

The bridge will then be painted in the fall, which will require periodic lane closures.
