Three in custody after robbery

A Jefferson City man was charged with first-degree robbery for stealing $35 and an iPhone at gunpoint Sunday night.

Roy Dowdy III, 21, 908 E. Dunklin St., was charged Monday afternoon.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement shows the victim was pumping gas at Break Time, 627 Clark Ave., around 10:10 p.m.

Dowdy opened the victim's passenger side door and offered to sell him narcotics.

The victim declined, but Dowdy refused to close the car door and when the victim had finished pumping gas he attempted to drive away.

Dowdy got into the car and pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the victim and demanded his property.

Dowdy was identified through surveillance footage at the store and the victim identified Dowdy in a photo lineup.

On Monday, it was learned two other suspects were involved in the crime and they were taken into custody. Their names were not released pending the filing of formal charges.
