Post 5 Juniors split

WICHITA, Kan. - The Jefferson City Post 5 Juniors went 1-1 in action Sunday at the Wichita State Classic.

Post 5 opened with an 8-0 loss to the Kansas City Mets. Post 5 struggled in the field in the contest, committing five errors, while leaving eight runners on base.

Post 5 rebounded with a 6-3 victory against the Kansas City Elite. Burke Brant was the winner, working the first 61⁄3 innings. Alec Verhoff got the final two outs.

Verhoff had three hits and two RBI in the win, while Logan Vogel had two hits and drove in two runs.

Post 5 (10-3) is off until the Blue Springs Legion Wood Bat Tournament on July 4th weekend.
