Mike Freeman, chairman of the 2013 Jefferson City Jaycees Fair, said every year fair organizers strive to host five nights of national entertainment.

This year is no different.

The fair kicks off Monday and runs through Aug. 3. Musical entertainment throughout the six days includes names such as Rickie Lee Tanner, JT Hodges, Dustin Lynch, Josh Gracin, Black Stone Cherry and Eve 6. Local bands will play before and after the main shows.

Freeman said the fair's sanctioned tractor pulls are always popular with fair-goers. A Mid-America Tractor Pullers Association pull is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday and a pull sanctioned by the Mid Missouri Truck and Tractor Pulling Association is at 7 p.m. Aug. 2.

"We'll have a demo derby and wrestling in the arena," Freeman said. "There will also be World League Racing like you see on TV."

He said it also wouldn't be a fair without the 4-H and livestock events.

Freeman said this year's fair hasn't even come and gone and the Jaycees are already planning next year's event.

"The fair takes the work of a lot people in the community," Freeman said. "It's really a community project."

The fair is located at the Jefferson City Jaycees Fairgrounds, 1445 Fairgrounds Road. Admission is $10 for an evening pass or $40 for a week-long pass. Parking is free.
