Dear Editor:
In response to the political cartoon by Jim Dyke on Jan. 20, I would like to answer his question: Which neighborhood would you burglarize? Gun-free or Gun in home?
Because burglars wait until no one is home, of course they would select the gun in home - if they know there is a gun in the house because guns have value on the illegal market. Guns do nothing to protect from burglars because when no one is home, no one can use the gun - except for the burglar who steals it in order to sell it to someone who wants to buy it from him.
So the answer: Burglars pick either neighborhood because the nature of burglary is to enter and rob from a home when no one is present to stop them.
