Charity: Number being served up; donations are down
Sunday, January 27, 2013
The Samaritan Center in Jefferson City is servicing a record number of families, although donations to the non-denominational interfaith support agency have decreased.
Marylyn DeFeo, volunteer executive director for the agency, said the amount of families serviced increases every month.
“The people that are coming in don’t have jobs, or they have a job that doesn’t cover all expenses, or they’ve just recently been laid off,” DeFeo said.
