Polowy nets 1,000th point in Blair Oaks’ win

WARDSVILLE — LeeAnn Polowy has a way to make scoring look easy at times.

But the 1,000th point of her career seemed to be a little more elusive than normal.

The Blair Oaks junior surpassed the 1,000-point mark with a late 3-pointer as the Lady Falcons topped Centralia 53-32 Thursday night.

“The last shot, it was just so hard to get,” Polowy said. “After it was over I was really happy to have it.”

Polowy, who scored 19 points, reached the milestone on a 3-pointer with 3:46 left to go in the game. She knew she needed 17 to reach the mark, but she wasn’t necessarily looking to get it if it didn’t come within the flow of the game.

“I was just going and if I got it this game, it would be great, and if I didn’t, I always had tomorrow,” Polowy said. “I just was focusing on getting a win because it’s a big game and everything.”
