Fire destroys Holts Summit home

No injuries were reported and the home is considered a total loss

A late night fire destroys a Holts Summit home.

Holts Summit Fire District responded to a residential structure fire in the 200 block of West Simons at 2:02am. The first fire company to arrive on the scene found heavy fire showing from the roof. Firefighters immediately determined that all occupants were out of the home and started an interior attack of the fire attempting to contain the fire but encountered heavy fire conditions in the attic area.

Firefighters were forced to retreat to a defensive operation until fire conditions improved to allow firefighters to reenter the structure.

New Bloomfield Fire District responded to assist the Holts Summit Fire District with manpower. The Missouri State Fire Marshal's Investigator along with members from the Holts Summit Fire District conducted the fire investigation and determined the fire origin was in the attic area. Cause of the fire is listed as accidental. No injuries were reported and the home is considered a total loss.
