New caps for BP

NEW YORK — Teams will have new batting practice caps this year, many with two or three colors and some with nontraditional logos.

Among the designs are caps featuring Mr. Met, the Oakland Athletics’ elephant, the Cincinnati Reds’ mascot and the Colorado Rockies’ mountain logo. The Toronto Blue Jays have a maple leaf.

The league apparently is hoping the new caps spark additional sales to fans.

The previous cap model was in use for three seasons.
